The Leonardo da Vinci school is a small primary school, committed to helping pupils develop in a way that prepares them for the rest of their lives.
Our school’s namesake is an important source of inspiration to us. Leonardo da Vinci is seen as the prime example of the ‘Renaissance man’: a person who has successfully developed their talents and skills in a wide range of subjects.
Of course, cognitive skills such as language, literacy and numeracy are given extra attention, while all the time adjusting the level to each pupil’s abilities.
But observing, drawing, experimenting and imaginative thinking are equally important skills that can help children make headway. Our pupils will therefore also learn to enhance their creativity, and use their curiosity and powers of imagination.
When pupils feel safe and appreciated, their personal, social and moral development gets off to a great start. We therefore believe in the beneficial effects of working together and helping each other: which is why our school has an extensive tutoring programme.
To encourage our pupils’ personal growth, we offer a broad programme of daily activities called the ‘Tussenschoolse Ateliers’ (Lunch Break Workshops). Facilitated by professionals, pupils get to explore their interests and talents. These might lie in programming, cooking, yoga, gardening, physics and/or music.
The school board sets the professional conditions that ensure the workshops are run in the best possible way. Every facet of our educational programme is result-oriented.
Finally, we want to be a welcoming school, with a positive and encouraging climate. A place where pupils, parents and teachers truly feel at home and share experiences side by side. A caring environment, one to look back on warmly later in life.
